Who are we ?
Who are we?
One Cat at a Time is a registered charity in Canada and Quebec. The organization's primary mission is to help neonatal and sick kittens at risk of euthanasia who would otherwise die without our assistance. One Cat at a Time has no physical location and operates with a network of foster families located in the Lower Laurentians.
Our foster families are trained and equipped to care for our protegé. We accept kittens from all over Quebec, but give priority to our region. We advocate quality care, so we don't do mass rescues to ensure that our protegé receive the care they need since most of the kittens we take in will need expensive veterinary care.

A mission close to our heart!
Our main objective is to help vulnerable kittens. As part of our mission, the organization is also committed to raising awareness of animal neglect, educating and promoting animal welfare. We believe this is the most ethical thing to do.
Transparency!
We are committed to being transparent in our actions and to clarifying the decisions made by the organization as well as its finances. All our reports are available on the Revenue Canada website. Your trust is precious to us.
Animal welfare above all!
Our organization gives every rescued animal the same opportunity, as this is often the last chance they will ever have. We never make decisions based on financial considerations, but instead focus on the animal's well-being. We give priority to quality care, and always follow veterinary recommendations. As an ethical organization, we do not, however, carry out over-therapeutic treatments.
Our story
In 2018, I had the idea of creating a Facebook page dedicated to the rescues I was doing. Having always had the animal cause at heart, I wanted to share my knowledge and present the kittens I was helping. As I wanted to give each kitten I helped the best chance of survival, I decided to take one cat at a time. It was from this standpoint that I was inspired to name the page “One Cat at a Time”. The near-absence of organizations dedicated to providing urgent medical care to kittens combined with the success of my rescues will lead to accelerated growth of the organization. This will require recruiting new people to join my cause and help me continue the rescues.. In 2019, One cat at a time obtained non-profit status in Quebec, and in 2020, charitable status in Canada so we could issue taxe receipts. Seven years later, after taking on many challenges, winning some victories, suffering a few losses, helping 415 animals, not only cats but dogs too, accumulating over 22,000 subscribers, setting up an administration, mobilizing committed volunteers and rallying an active community, “ One Cat at a Time ” is a wonderful mission. What started out as a simple pilot project has turned into a vocation, a passion. I feel privileged to continue a mission that's close to my heart, and to have people behind me who are just as passionate. One cat at a atime woudn't be the same without it's community!
